FAQ

  • Talk therapy has it’s benefits, but it also has some serious limitations.

We can’t think our way out of trauma. And we can’t think our way out of the patterns that keep us stuck and hold us back.

We need an approach that involves our body, and that teaches our nervous system how to regulate in a relational way.

That’s where equine therapy comes in.

No riding. No horse experience required.

    1. Organize a group of peers from York RPS to attend with you (maximum 5 participants)

    2. Contact us to organize the workshop date

    3. Once we have a date, you will be asked to complete an intake form, and we will send you our welcome package

    4. Attend the 1-day workshop from 9:30am - 4:30pm

  • We are located between Burk’s Falls and Magentawan in the Almaguin region (think Muskoka North). See our Land Acknowledgement here.

    Workshop is from 9:30am - 4:30pm
The cost is covered and reimbursed under your insurance benefits, and will be billed as 4-hours of psychotherapy services.

  • Yes, you can book a private equine therapy session with us.

Contact us to set that up.

  • You can definitely book a private session for you and your partner/spouse.

That said, we ask that you don’t attend a peer support workshop with your partner or spouse along with other participants as this can bring extra dynamics into the group.

  • We do not have accomodation options on site, however we have a partnership with the Huntsville Comfort Inn where they offer our clients reduced rates.

We suggest booking with as much advance notice as possible, and you can access the reduced rate booking using THIS LINK.

    • Protect your feet with closed toed shoes (no sandals)

    • Wear in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

    • Dress for the weather, and bring an extra layer in case the temperature shifts

    • Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated

    • Consider bringing slippers for time in the yurt (for our human time :)

    • We encourage you to take a technology break and keep you phone on silent while you’re here

  • We have a 48 hour cancellation policy for individuals, otherwise 50% of the billing will still apply.

No show appointments will be charged at the full rate.

Group bookings require 2 weeks notice for cancellation, otherwise 75% of the billing will still apply.

If for any reason Horse Sense North needs to cancel and you have already paid, you will be offered your choice of a full refund or a credit.
