When Coping Becomes Costly: A Compassionate Look at Numbing and Addiction [FREE virtual workshop]

When: May 12th, 12pm EST

Length: 1 hour and 15 min

Format: Zoom - Recording stops for authentic and secure live discussion near the end

Cost: Free

Description:

We all cope. Sometimes those coping strategies help us survive. But sometimes they cost us more than they give. This workshop takes a trauma-informed, non-judgmental look at the ways we numb - through substances, social media, shopping, work, food, and more. You'll explore when coping crosses into something that interferes with your life, and how to find healthier paths forward without shame or self-blame.

In this workshop, you'll:

  • Understand the difference between adaptive coping and maladaptive numbing

  • Identify your own patterns of avoidance, distraction, or escape

  • Learn why addiction (substance and process) happens through a trauma-informed lens

  • Explore what your coping mechanisms are protecting you from

  • Discover healthier alternatives that address the root need, not just the symptom

  • Leave with compassionate strategies to shift from numbing to healing
